Purple Kush, aka Purple Hindu Kush, is a pure 100% indica strain that is distinctly different from other indicas because of its beautiful range of striking colors, delicious mouth-watering taste and aroma, and knockout effects.
It is a cross between Hindu Kush and Purple Afghani and can boast being named a Top 10 Kush Strain by High Times magazine. It has a THC level that ranges from 17-27% and less than 1% CBD. It also brings a complex terpene profile with a total terpene count of 6.79%, including linalool, caryophyllene oxide, myrcene, beta-pinene, alpha-pinene, and humulene, among others.
This plant grows low and bushy, as you might expect with a pure indica. Indoors, Purple Kush has a flowering time of 8 weeks and produces yields of around 400-500g/m2. Outdoors, crops are ready to harvest in mid to late-September, with yields of around 250-350g/plant. Purple Kush requires proper curing in order to get the most out of the color and flavor, by hanging the buds upside down for about a week.
Visually, Purple Kush can be recognized by the medium-sized tightly-curled flowers covered in glistening trichomes, orange pistils, dense buds, and mixed purple and green leaves. It also brings the trait of its Afghani parent of very sticky resin, making it a popular choice for hash and concentrate production.
It doesn’t only look pretty, Purple Kush has bags of flavor too, initially delivering an earthy taste, with hints of sandalwood and musk. This grows into a more sweet and fruity grape flavor. When smoked, a fruity, hash-like scent emerges, which can cause a bit of coughing. When exhaled, there is a sweet grape taste that is reminiscent of sweet dessert wine.
Purple Kush offers up a powerful high that kicks off with a sense of cerebral disorientation that slowly morphs into a more calming effect, eventually turning into sheer bodily relaxation. It is a good strain for enjoying music too, as smokers will find themselves in a state of pleasant contentment and classic indica couch-lock that makes it ideal for the night time.
